Is there a real need for your services? Yes. And if there wasn't we wouldn't have grown our business to £500,000 turnover in 3 years. As I mentioned earlier, our business operates in the fiercely competitive environment of food retail. And the industry is huge! The Food retail business in the UK is worth £29.87 billion (source: Mintel Report 2005) and is growing at around 4.3% a year. Sandwiches, which form a key part of our offer is the fastest growing sector within this category. In the UK in 2005 we spent £2.7 billion on sandwiches, an increase of 9% on the previous year. Added to the huge potential market there are also social changes that are adding to the growth of corporate catering businesses. Increased work pressures lead to shorter lunch breaks and working lunches are now more common place than ever. Working lunches mean that workers are more likely to order lunch in so they can continue their meeting. Another area of this industry worth noting here is the growth of the contract catering companies. More businesses are choosing to outsource the running of their staff canteen to outside contractors. This market has grown considerably over the last 10 years and is now worth £8.7 billion in the UK (source: Caterer and Hotel Keeper). As a Jasper's Franchisee you'll also be able to tender for kiosk/ staff canteen contracts. We have the systems in place to show you how. Although this is not currently a core part of our business, it's certainly an area that we're looking to expand. 2. How hard is it to get Customers? And do I have to get them for myself? Yes, you do have to get customers but not by yourself! We provide you with all the materials and know how you'll need to manage your local marketing campaigns. We'll also be actively generating business for you through some head office activity, such as Google Adwords campaigns. We can even support you in the early days with visiting prospects. If we don’t deliver on all 9 guarantees 100% of the time – you don’t pay us a single penny. In other words your lunch is FREE if we mess up! One thing we are clear about though is that being able to confidently present yourself in a sales environment is a key skill you'll will need to succeed in this business. All the processes and marketing materials in the world won't work if you fall to pieces in front of a prospect! So as long as you have the core skills we look for (and you will have if we offer you a franchise) then getting customers won't be hard. Jasper’s stands out in the market place as being a leader in the corporate catering market. Our unique 9 point guarantee sees to that… Jaspers Unique NINE Point Money-Back Guarantee
3. What’s the competition like? The market in the UK is segmented into large national businesses who offer corporate catering as an add on service to their core business (retail) such as O'Briens and Philpotts, and small local competition At Jasper's we specialise in corporate catering exclusively - we don't have retail premises. The benefit to us (and you) is that we can target all our marketing with one single aim. We also have premises purposely designed for food production, many of the high street chains struggle for space in small, already busy kitchens, which is why in many cases they don't really promote their catering businesses. 4. What type of person is perfect for this business? We are very selective about the people we take on board. Why? Because our success is directly related to your success. Therefore we can’t afford to accept just anyone. We know that the ability to earn a high salary is enough to attract anyone, that’s why we do have a stringent policy on recruitment. For starters you must have the following qualities, or we won’t even consider you…
5. Can I really earn a top level Income ? Yes you can. It may sound hard to believe, but the figures we’ve included in the financial section are based on the business growth that we achieved in Birmingham – so we know it’s possible because we’ve done it! We've also worked hard to ensure that we've carefully mapped out the franchise territories to match as closely as possible the mix of businesses and size of the area currently serviced by Jasper's in Birmingham. But don’t for one minute think that it’s a ‘walk in the park’. You still have to earn your money! You do have to put the effort in, but because our systems are so detailed and straightforward you work smarter – not harder. In fact you won’t have to work more than 50 hours a week, and often much less, to earn the salary you deserve, and remember, you will always have the free time to enjoy it. 6. What support structure do you have in place? We believe that the support structure of any Franchise organisation is one of the most important aspects of running a successful Franchise.
You have to know that you’ll never be left alone ‘to get on with it’. Of course our training is so detailed you won’t need constant supervision, but you will need help from time to time. That’s why we have a structure in place that ensures your success… You have the support of Nathan and Paul, Jasper's owners who have been there and done it when it comes to successfully growing a catering business from £0 to a profitable enterprise. In addition to this support you also have the support of our dedicated in house head office team. This includes marketing, field sales, telemarketers and an independant financial advisor (not employed by Jaspers). 7. How do your training and systems compare to other Franchise organisations? Our training procedures and manuals reflect the systematic approach we've worked hard to develop in our business. As investors in people we believe we offer the best training available in our industry. With a-b-c type, step-by-step instructions, and an attention to detail that will stagger you, we know we’ll make you well on your way to becoming a true expert in just 10 days flat! We don’t accept everyone as Franchisees, but those who qualify already have the basic skills – we just give them the tools of our trade! 8. How much is the Franchise fee? The Franchise fee is currently £29,997 +VAT and grants you the right to trade under the corporate identity of Jasper’s Corporate Catering.
9. What does the Franchise fee include? Your Franchise fee includes your licence to trade under the corporate identity of Jasper’s Corporate Catering and the following great package…
10. What other finance do I need to start this business? In addition to the fee, you’ll need to invest about £60,000 to cover part of your set-up and initial operating costs, which will include (as an example):
11. Do I have to pay a monthly management fee? Yes. The monthly management service fee is set at 10% of your turnover. There are no set fees for you to pay so you don’t pay us anything after your initial franchise fee until you start trading. 12. What are the typical working hours per week? 40-50 hours or less, but certainly not more! And no evenings or weekends! Although you may find you're working longer hours in the early days. However, because we've worked hard to systemise and automate this business you'll soon see that it will begin to run itself leaving you free to spend your energy growing the business (and enjoying your new income!). 13. Where would my premises be located? Well that depends on what area you choose or what area is available. As I have mentioned before, we have carefully mapped out the UK to highlight the territories that are available and make sure that the size of the business opportunity is as fair as possible. We'll discuss the opportunities in your areas with you when you enquire about the franchise 14. How do I know I can earn the income you say I can? When we meet with you for the first time we'll show you our detailed financial plans (there is an overview of these available in the Further Information). All the details have been taken from our current business and reflect the growth that we have already achieved. We're confident that with our systems and support, Franchisees, providing they have the right attributes for the business, will easily be able to grow their business and exceed the minimum financials we have set. 15. Do I need to have any experience in the food industry? No. You'll be fully trained in everything you need to know. As long as you can demonstrate the key attributes that we're looking for, you'll have all the necessary skills to make this franchise a success. 16. What support do I get in staff training and recruitment? If you've never been an employer before this may be an area of the business you're most unsure about, but don't worry… We’ll support you in the early days to recruit your staff to get your business up and running. 17.
